DICK
WILLIAMS
Richard Hirschfield
Williams
Born May 7, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri
Dick managed for 22
years in the major leagues and played for 13 more prior to that. He won
the American League pennant in 1967 as Manager of the Boston Red Sox and
the National League pennant in 1984 with the San Diego Padres. Dick also
managed the powerful Oakland A's team to 3 straight AL pennants, capturing
the World Series Championships in 1972 and 1973. He ranks just behind
Tommy Lasorda in most wins as a manager. Surely worthy of the Hall of
Fame, Dick has spent his entire life pursuing the wonderful game of baseball.
